Recreation Facilities
The Community Recreation Association operates within a number of facilities located in and around 8 Wing / CFB Trenton. The main office is located at the RecPlex, 21 Namao Drive (just off RCAF Road beside the Credit Union and the CANEX). The various programs and services are offered at the RecPlex and the Gym on the south side of the base.
RecPlex Indoor Pool The indoor pool was officially opened in December 97 and boasts of being the fastest 25-meter pool in the Quinte region. Also included is a 10x15 meters warm-up pool, which has a gradual incline (from 0 to 1.2 meters deep) on one-half of the pool, which provides an excellent facility for babies and small children. Albatross Outdoor Pool The Albatross outdoor pool is located on the south side of the Base, past the ball diamonds and just down the road from the Gym. It is open for recreation swimming in July until the Labour Day weekend in September. The Albatross pool provides the opportunity to swim in the sun without having to leave the base. more information...
Astra Lanes Bowling Alley Astra Lanes Bowling Alley is located on the north side of the Base. It has 6 lanes equipped for 5 pin bowling. Throughout the Fall, Winter & Spring, various leagues take place for men, women and mixed. Astra Lanes also has its Youth Bowling Council (YBC) bowling for kids on the weekends and open bowling is held on various days of the week. more information...
RCAF Flyers Arena The RCAF Flyers Arena is located on the east side of RCAF Rd, south of the CPC Parachute Depot building and across the street from the CANEX. The Arena houses a 200 feet by 85 foot ice surface, six dressing rooms, a spectators viewing area for approximately 400 personnel, and a spacious lobby with snack bar.
