Swim to Survive

If your child were to accidentally fall into deep water and become disoriented, would he/she have the ability to support him/herself long enough to survive?

The Lifesaving Society has developed a Swim to Survive Standard which is recognized as the minimum national standard of swimming skill for all children.

The standard is simple and straightforward. It defines the essential minimum skills required to survive an unexpected fall into deep water.

To help children achieve the Swim to Survive Standard and a goal of passing the Facility Swim Test, the Community Recreation Association, in cooperation with the Lifesaving Society, is offering Swim to Survive Clinics.

The Swim to Survive program is an organized way to achieve the Canadian Swim to Survive Standard. Please note that these clinics are not a replacement for Water Safety or Swim lessons.

Children must be 7 years of age or older to participate in the Swim to Survive Clinics. Participation is free. Registration in advance is recommended. Limited to 10 children per date. First come, first served.

Children do not have to participate in all clinics. Attendance is at your convenience.
