Squadron Information
412 (Transport) Squadron mission is to provide globally-capable airlift in the forms of both an Administrative Flight Service to approved users of the Government of Canada, and utility airlift as directed by Commander 1 Canadian Air Division. Taskings include emergency flights, military VIP flights and MEDEVAC flights. 424 (Tiger) Squadron is a Transport and Rescue Squadron working out of #9 Hangar. To fulfill the squadron's roles, 424 Squadron flies the Bell CH-140 Griffon and the Lockheed CC-130 Hercules. 426 Transport Training Squadron is charged with the responsibility of training aircrew, technical support and aeromedical evacuation personnel to meet the needs of Air Mobility forces. The squadron graduates approximately 1,100 personnel each year.
436 (Transport) Squadron is comprised of approximately 140 aircrew and support personnel and currently flies the workhorseof the tactical transport fleet, the CC-130 Hercules aircraft. The squadon is tasked with carrying material and personnel on a global response basis, prepared to deliver 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Onus Portamus (We carry the Load) 437 (Transport) Squadron is equipped with five CC-150 Polaris (A310) aircraft. These aircraft are a familiar sight not only in the skies around Trenton but also across Canada and around the world. Primary roles are long range transport of personnel and equipment, and VIP airlift, and air-to-air refueling. Omnia Passim (Anytime, Anywhere) 2 Air Movements Squadron is responsible for the supervision and control of all passengers, baggage, and freight originating, staging through, or terminating at the Wing. On an annual basis, they process over 22,000 passengers and 17 million pounds of freight. 8 Air Communication and Control Squadron (8 ACCS) is a squadron of 1 Canadian Air Division assigned to 8 Wing. The Squadron is fully air and road transportable which can be deployed within six hours. A self-supportable, rapid reaction Air Force unit, 8ACCS provides tactical communications and information services for Command and Control (C2) purposes. 8 Air Maintenance Squadron (8 AMS) provides mission-capable heavy transport aircraft and support to Canadian Forces operations world-wide. 8 AMS manages and maintains all Hercules aircraft flown by 424(T&R), 426(T), and 436(T) Squadrons. The Wing Logistics and Engineering Branch (WLE) is responsible for a multitude of services: Construction Engineering, Telecommunication and Information Services, Electrical Mechanical Engineering, Foods Services, Supply, Transportation, Environment and General Safety. Wing Food Services Squadron is one of the four support squadrons that falls within the Wing Logistics and Engineering Branch, alongside Supply, EME and Transport. Wing Food Services operates the Yukon Galley and the Flight Feeding Kitchen in support of 8 Wing and its lodger units. Wing Food Services personnel also regularly deploy in support of national taskings. Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (EME) Squadron provides a complete range of maintenance services to ensure 8 Wings land-based technical equipment operational fitness in support of main operating base and deployed operations. Wing Supply Squadron is tasked to provide material support to the various units located at 8 Wing, CFB Trenton, local Militia and Cadet Squadrons, and the surrounding area. As the staging base for the DART (Disaster Assistance Response Team), we assist in maintaining material and equipment required to deploy this team worldwide. 8 Wing Telecommunications and Information Services Squadron (WTISS) Trenton provides telecommunications and information services support to further the roles and missions of 8 Wing and its integral and lodger units. WTISS is responsible for the maintenance support of all ground-based Communications and Information Systems (CIS) equipment on the Wing. The Wing Transportation Squadron mission is to provide highly trained deployable MSE Operators to support any domestic and overseas operations and is responsible for the management of DND fleet dispatched through integral and lodger units of 8 Wing. 85 ARFF (Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Flight) is an integral part of the Wing Construction Engineering (WCE) Squadron and is responsible for providing a 24x7 emergency response for both aircraft and structural firefighting at 8 Wing. Wing Construction Engineering (WCE) Squadron is a highly professional, motivated and multi-skilled workforce committed to providing cost effective and efficient engineering services. Aerospace and Telecommunications Engineering Support Squadron (ATESS) mission is to provide expert command and control information systems and aerospace technical skills to maintain ready, deployable and integrated engineering teams as well as the capability and skills to meet immediate operational equipment requirements. 8 Air Reserve Flight (8 AR FIt) has been a part of 8 Wing/CFB Trenton since 1976. The Flight has a strength of 197 part-time and seven full-time personnel. 8 AR FIt is comprised of aircrew, support, and clerical staff who support most sections and all Squadrons at 8 Wing. The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC), the Canadian Mission Control Centre (CMCC) and the Search And Rescue Network Operations Control Centre (SARNOCC) are Detachments of 1CAD Winnipeg and are Lodger Units at 8 Wing Trenton. JRCC Trenton is responsible for coordinating search and rescue (SAR) efforts within the largest single SAR region in the world. Canadian Forces Land Advanced Warfare Centre (CFLAWC) is currently organized with a Headquarters, Training Company, Support Company, a Standards Section, an Airborne Trials and Evaluation Section and the Canadian Forces Parachute Team, (CFPT), the Skyhawks. The Contingency Capability Centre (CCC) is responsible for planning and coordination of common Air Force ground support training, establishment and monitoring of readiness levels, coordination of common deployable support equipment requirements and the provision of specialist staff advisors on deployed operations. The Canadian Forces Aircrew Selection Centre (CFASC) mission is to select pilot and navigator candidates for further training in the Canadian Forces. CFASC processes aircrew candidates through the Canadian Automated Pilot Selection System (CAPSS), a computer-based system which comprises five full motion simulators networked to an analysis centre. Security and Military Police Squadron (SAMP): The Wing Provost Marshal is responsible for security and policing at 8 Wing/CFB Trenton.The Military Police Squadron (MP Sqn) has 33 Military Police and 34 members of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires. Medical Squadron (4 HSOTU Det Trenton). The unit provides a wide range of ambulatory out patient services including pharmacy, lab, X-ray, physiotherapy, preventative medicine, optometry, and social work. Dental Unit Detachment Trenton is a lodger unit providing emergency and comprehensive dental care to Canadian Forces personnel. Dental hygiene, restorative care, prosthetics (crown and bridge) and surgical procedures represent just a few of the treatment areas available. Canadian Forces Postal Unit (CFPU) is responsible for postal support to the CF in Canada and abroad. The unit consists of a headquarters staff, an operations section, a postal school, supply depot, as well as a postage stamp and money order depot. |
