The City of Quinte West is comprised of the former City of Village of Frankford, and Townships of Murray and Sidney. The new city has a population of over 42,000 urban and rural residents. The Canadian Pacific Railway and Canadian National Railway also serve the community.
The Quinte region has excellent recreational opportunities. Fishing and boating are a premium given the citys location at the west end of the Bay of Quinte. The Murray Canal provides boaters with access from scenic Wellers Bay, on Lake Ontario, to the tranquil waters of the Bay of Quinte. Boaters may then travel the Trent-Severn Waterway which bisects the municipality, and links Lake Ontario with Georgian Bay.
The City is also famous for the Quinte International Air Show, hosted by 8 Wing/CFB Trenton. The Citys economy is well balanced given a full range of manufacturing industries and significant commercial development. The picturesque rural areas are agriculturally strong and are devoted mostly to mixed farming and fruit production. 8 Wing/CFB Trenton is a stabilizing factor in the regions economy.

Brighton Bay is connected to the Bay of Quinte by the Murray Canal at the mouth of the Trent River. It is here that that the Trent-Severn waterway begins, the largest inland canal system in the world.
